DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The New York City Council is seeking to fill a Legal Administrator position in its Office of the General Counsel.The Legal Administrator will support the efficiency of the Office of the General Counsel by coordinating workflow, scheduling, and managing projects as well as processing correspondence and other paperwork. The Legal Administrator will also assist the Council’s Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) Officer in reviewing and responding to FOIL requests. Additionally, this individual will help with the review, transportation, storage and tracking of City Council documents in compliance with various laws and policies.
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or equivalent preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in a legal environment helpful. Analytical thinker with detailed research proficiencies. Ability to grasp and interpret legal documents. Must have strong communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn how to use electronic document review software; good judgment and prioritization; and, the ability to interact professionally and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
New York City residency required within 90 days of appointment.
