DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The New York City Council’s Information Technology division is seeking to fill the position of Systems Administrator.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Manage and monitor Windows systems and infrastructure.
•Maintain and test Network backups.
•Maintain and improve business continuity plans.
•Assist in integrating new technologies and applications into current environment.
•Communicates effectively (oral and written) with all levels of end-users in a professional manner
• Manage enterprise software, including but not limited to Exchange, Active Directory (AD) and VMWare.
•Design and administer SharePoint sites.
•Perform LAN administration tasks accurately, and in a timely manner.
•Schedule required Network Server updates at appropriate intervals.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Processing, Computer Information Systems, Data Communications, Systems Analysis or related field; Strong ability to work in a team environment; Thorough understanding of networking principles; Knowledge of the operational and technical problems involved in the administration of a specialized program; Proficiency in a scripting language such as Python, PowerShell, VBS or others; Basic knowledge of MS SQL.

New York City Residency required within 90 days of appointment.
