DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The New York City Council’s Administrative Services division is seeking to fill the position of Human Resources Generalist.
The Human Resources Generalist performs specialized, extremely confidential administrative work. Provides front-line support and serves as a point of contact for assigned Council Member offices. Conducts new employee orientation overview. Meets with new employees to explain health insurance benefits, dental and vision benefits, deferred compensation plans and pension. Obtains required documentation for employee eligibility form, residency form, health insurance applications and employee withholding form. Responds to questions about benefit programs, coverage levels and charges. Researches and provides timely resolutions of employee benefit problems. Assists in identifying and clarifying policies, procedures and guidelines. Handles employee closeout procedures and conducts exit interviews. Conducts periodic site visits to offices.
Post-secondary education or equivalent and progressive work experience in a human resources-related field preferred; Working knowledge of MS Office; ability to meet and work with management and staff; ability to function well under stressful conditions; proven track record in developing solid working relationships; detail oriented and creative thinker with strong communication skills.
New York City Residency required within 90 days of appointment.
