As Staten Island, New York State, and the United States prepare to commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, Councilman Frank Morano is proud to announce Stars, Stripes & Staten Island: America 250 Celebration<\/strong> \u2014 a community-wide event honoring our history, patriotism, and shared future.<\/p>\n The celebration will take place on July 8th<\/strong> from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the historic Conference House<\/strong>, the site of the only peace conference of the American Revolution held on American soil. This special event will bring together residents, community organizations, local businesses, veterans, historians, and families from across Staten Island to celebrate America’s semiquincentennial in a meaningful and memorable way.<\/p>\n The event will feature the burial of the America 250: Staten Island Time Capsule<\/strong>, which will preserve messages, memories, and artifacts from today’s generation and be reopened during America’s tricentennial celebration in 2076. Attendees will also enjoy live entertainment, food vendors, community exhibits, family activities, patriotic displays, and a spectacular fireworks show overlooking the waterfront.<\/p>\n We are currently seeking vendors, sponsors, community organizations, performers, exhibitors, food trucks, and other participants who would like to be part of this historic occasion.<\/strong> Whether you represent a local business, nonprofit organization, cultural group, or simply have an idea that would enhance the celebration, we encourage you to get involved. As part of a larger commemorative event planned for July 8th, community submissions will be preserved in a time capsule to be buried in Staten Island\u2019s 51st Council District and reopened 50 years later during the nation\u2019s tricentennial celebrations.<\/p>\n We are asking residents of all ages to submit a 20-second video message<\/strong> answering questions such as:<\/p>\n What do you think Staten Island will be like in 50 years?
