Louis (D-Brooklyn),<\/strong> issued the following statement after NYC Housing Works employees voted to unionize and move forward with contract negotiations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>STATEMENT BY COUNCIL MEMBER LOUIS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations and a job well done to the newest members of The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU), the employees of NYC Housing Works. As a former RWDSU member and newest Member of the New York City Council, I was proud to stand in solidarity with you against the repeated attempts to delay the vote to organize. Your two-year campaign for workers\u2019 rights and workplace protection was hard-fought and won with courage, strength, tenacity. This vote is a tremendous victory for the staff and clients of NYC Housing Works, and the City to ensure continuity of services for homeless and low-income New Yorkers,\u201d said <strong>Council Member Farah N.
