{"id":159,"date":"2019-09-11T18:09:48","date_gmt":"2019-09-11T18:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/farah-louis\/?p=159"},"modified":"2021-12-26T22:41:51","modified_gmt":"2021-12-26T22:41:51","slug":"statement-on-9-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/farah-louis\/2019\/09\/11\/statement-on-9-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Statement on 9\/11 Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Eighteen years later, we<br \/>\nremember&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The heroes and survivors, the hurt and the heartbroken, the rescue<br \/>\nand recovery, the healing and the suffering.<\/p>\n<p>We will never forget the terrorist attacks that shattered a<br \/>\npeaceful morning, devastating more than 3,000 families on that day and over the<br \/>\ncourse of two decades.<\/p>\n<p>In the midst of it all, we saw heart from those who sacrificed<br \/>\ntheir lives to protect others.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today, our first responders and their families are still grappling<br \/>\nwith long-term, debilitating illnesses in the aftermath of <strong>9\/11<\/strong>. In the<br \/>\nface of terrorism, they showed compassion, composure, and courage.
