The event was organized by Council Member Eric Dinowitz, Chair of the Jewish Caucus, in partnership with Speaker Adrienne Adams\u2019 office, and honored the memory of Holocaust victims, reinforcing the City Council\u2019s commitment to education and remembrance of the Holocaust.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Council Member Eric Dinowitz highlighted his resolution commemorating January 27, 2025, as the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. The resolution also formally recognizes January 27 of every year as Auschwitz Remembrance Day in New York City. In his remarks, Council Member Dinowitz spoke about the importance of memory and the solemn obligation to \u201cNever Forget,\u201d through meaningful action, not just through words.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congress Member Dan Goldman addressed attendees as well, emphasizing the crucial need to stand against antisemitism. The Congress Member currently chairs the House Antisemitism Task Force.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chairman of Yad Vashem, Dani Dayan, was presented a special proclamation in recognition of Yad Vashem, and delivered poignant remarks on the significance of Holocaust remembrance and education in today\u2019s uncertain world. In continuation of honoring this organization, Council Member Keith Powers renamed a street in honor of Yad Vashem and the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
