Manuel Silva (Chief of Staff) is a lifelong resident of Queens, NY. He received a Bachelor’s from CUNY Baruch in Sociology and a Master’s in Political Science from Southern New Hampshire University. He has spent his career dedicated to the public sector and community work. Manuel worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency during the Superstorm Sandy recovery as a Congressional Affairs Specialist. He recently served as the Project Manager of the Far Rockaway Arverne Nonprofit Coalition. He spends much of his time volunteering in the Rockaway community where he still lives and he is a former member of Queens Community Board 14.
Jordon Bishop (Budget and Community Liaison – Laurelton) is a longtime resident of Queens, currently residing in Laurelton. He graduated from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a minor in Entrepreneurship. He is a member of his local Block Association and is always eager to find solutions that will improve the quality of life of the constituents. In his spare time he likes to play basketball, work out at the gym, go to the movies and dine out.
Devaney Brown (Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Community and Economic Development) was born and raised in New York. She is currently a student at Baruch College pursing a degree in Public Affairs and is excited to learn new and positive ways to impact the quality of life for all New Yorkers. In her spare time she enjoys eating, shopping and catching up on some of her favorite shows including Scandal and House of Cards.
Nina Durand (Community Liaison – Laurelton) is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree at John Jay College of Criminal Justice with an expected graduation date of 2020. On her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and reading magazines. In our community, Nina is passionate about reforming the criminal justice system, women’s rights and senior services.
Jordan Gibbons (Director of Legislation and Communications – Legislative Office) earned his BA in Journalism from Stony Brook University. He formerly worked as a reporter at the Queens Tribune covering the Southeast Queens community. He spends his free time hoping and wondering if the New York Jets, Mets and Knicks will ever win a championship in his lifetime.
Jessica Luina (Event Planner and Community Liaison – Far Rockaway) is a lifelong Far Rockaway resident. She received a BA in Business Administration and Management from Berkeley College and currently loves working for her community. She previously worked for a nonprofit in Far Rockaway and several other elected officials. Jessica is also the proud mommy of her beautiful baby girl Janessa Nydelsie Luina.
Mitch Noel (District Manager) was born in Haiti, and resides in Brooklyn, NY. He is a proud member of Alpha Nu Omega Fraternity, Inc., and is passionate about helping people in need.
Malik Sanders (Executive Assistant/Scheduler – Far Rockaway) is a Hampton University Alumni that has always been involved in New York City politics in some way. His interests include random adventures and over-analyzing media. Raised in the 31st Council District, he loves seeing the potential of the community realized and relishes the opportunity to change our city for the better.
