District 35 Street Tree Guards ($120,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Street trees provide critical environmental services to our neighborhoods \u2014 absorbing floodwater, providing shade, trapping air pollution, and providing shelter for wildlife. Our district has many tree beds with live trees that are not protected by tree guards, which help minimize soil compaction and protect trees from physical harm and pet waste. A $120,000 allocation would provide funding for 75 tree guards throughout District 35. A more protected tree canopy ensures that residents can enjoy the benefits that trees provide to our community.<\/p>\n

Albert Parham Park Renovation ($500,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Albert Parham Park provides the surrounding Clinton Hill community with free and accessible amenities like basketball and handball courts. The playground serves children throughout the neighborhood, including neighboring students of PS 20. The park is also home to one of the only public minipools in the area. A $500,000 allocation would provide partial funding for a full playground renovation, including play equipment for all ages, safety surface, pavement, drainage, spray shower, landscaping, path, seating, security lights and adult fitness area.<\/p>\n

Greene Playground Renovation ($500,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Greene Playground is a vital community space in Clinton Hill that offers recreational space with basketball and handball courts on site for the surrounding area. The playground neighbors PS 11 and serves as an essential outdoor space for the school. A $500,000 allocation would partly fund the second phase of Greene Playground renovation, which will transform the multi surface play area with upgraded basketball courts, new fencing and benches, reconstructed handball court, and landscaping.<\/p>\n

Ebbets Field Middle School Food Pantry ($100,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ebbets Field Middle School in Crown Heights serves 141 students, 99% of whom are students of color and 89% are economically disadvantaged. Across the city, food pantries provide essential resources, with usage rising since the Covid-19 pandemic.  A $100,000 allocation would fund a food pantry at Ebbets Field Middle School, offering low-income families access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food, helping to alleviate food insecurity and support the health and well-being of the school community.  <\/p>\n

Clara Barton High School Dental Technology Lab Upgrade ($285,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Clara Barton High School is a public high school in Crown Heights with 1,254 students, 98% of whom are students of color and 80% of whom are economically disadvantaged. Clara Barton High School\u2019s Dental Technology Lab offers hands-on experience to learn the skills necessary to work in a dental lab. A $285,000 allocation would go towards installing custom dental equipment and furniture for the students of this program and further job readiness post-graduation.<\/p>\n

PS46\/FGPA Cafeteria Upgrade ($200,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

PS 46 and Fort Greene Preparatory Academy share a campus at 100 Clermont Avenue, serving 382 students. At PS 46, 97% are students of color, and 89% are economically disadvantaged; at Fort Greene Prep, 81% are students of color, and 70% are economically disadvantaged. Currently, their shared cafeteria needs repairs and upgrades. A $200,000 allocation would fund renovations, improving seating and the overall dining environment, ensuring a better experience for students who rely on this space daily.<\/p>\n

Medgar Evers College Preparatory School – Tech Upgrades ($115,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Medgar Evers College Preparatory School is a public middle and high school in Crown Heights with 869 students, 99% of whom are students of color and 58% of whom are economically disadvantaged. The school is driven by a mission focused on college readiness, with a 100% four-year graduation rate. The school needs technology upgrades to support growing educational needs. A $115,000 allocation would go towards purchasing laptops, laptop carts, desktops, and printers for Medgar Evers College Preparatory School.<\/p>\n

FDNY EMS Station 31 Renovation ($500,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

FDNY EMS responds to over 1.6 million emergencies annually across New York City. Located in Fort Greene, Station 31 serves nearby residents during life-threatening incidents. A $500,000 allocation would partially fund renovations, modernizing the outdated 1960s interior to create a safer, more functional workspace. It would also upgrade lighting and electrical systems to improve energy efficiency, reliability, and safety, ensuring the station meets modern demands. A renovated station will better support EMS workers, enabling faster and more effective care for the community.<\/p>\n

Crown Heights Roadway Repaving ($250,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

New York City roads are among the worst in the nation, costing motorists nearly $3,700<\/a> annually in higher vehicle expenses as a result of poor road conditions. More than 12,640 residents of Community Districts 8 and 9 drive a vehicle to work, and poor road conditions impact not only their ability to get to work but also slow delivery times for businesses. A $250,000 would repave one lane mile in Crown Heights and improve road conditions for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.<\/p>\n

NYC H+H Gotham Health Eye and Vision Expansion ($150,000)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

NYC Health and Hospitals aims to provide healthcare to all New Yorkers, regardless of their ability to pay, by providing affordable comprehensive healthcare. H+H Gotham Health\u2019s Cumberland Optometry Department provides annual eye examinations, vision correction, treatment of eye disorders, and more. A $150,000 allocation would help renovate eye clinical rooms, including new medical equipment, slip lamp, exam chairs, lighting, flooring, millworks, hands free sinks, exam tv, retinal machine, visual field analyzer and auto refactor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
