Constantinides Collects Over 300 Toys
Astoria, N.Y. – Council Member Costa Constantinides (D-Astoria) collected over 300 toys this winter from community donations. The toys collected were donated to two toy drives.
Constantinides participated in St. Michael’s Cemetery toy drive to benefit Toys For Tots, as well as in Urban Upbound and Zone 126’s toy drive to benefit children living at NYCHA Astoria Houses.
Constantinides said, “I’m proud that we collected over 300 toys this month – thank you to all those who donated. Many children in New York grow up without the opportunity to open Christmas or holiday gifts and we were happy to give hundreds of children that opportunity this year. I also thank St. Michael’s Cemetery, Urban Upbound, and Zone 126 for helping to organize these drives during this holiday season.”
Costa Constantinides represents the New York City Council’s 22nd District, which includes his native Astoria along with parts of Woodside, East Elmhurst, and Jackson Heights. He serves as the chair the City Council’s Sub-Committee on Libraries and sits on seven standing committees: Civil Service & Labor, Contracts, Cultural Affairs, Environmental Protection, Oversight & Investigations, Sanitation, and Transportation.
