The two forms of discretionary funding are&nbsp;<strong>expense funding&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>capital funding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Expense funding<\/strong>&nbsp;is discretionary funding that supports programs and services.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Capital funding<\/strong>&nbsp;is discretionary funding that supports physical infrastructure projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These funds&nbsp;<strong>are not grants<\/strong>. You must be able to spend the money up front and you will be reimbursed by the City.&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>To apply, you must fill out an application through the City Council.<\/strong>&nbsp;The expense funding application can be found&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/us.grantrequest.com\/application.aspx?sid=5404&amp;fid=35034\">here<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;and the capital funding application can be found&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/site\/capitalgrants\/capgrants-portal\/capgrants-portal.page\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Due Dates for Applications<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><u>Expense Funding:<\/u><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Wednesday, February 19, 2025<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Capital Funding:<\/u><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Thursday, February 20, 2025, 5:00pm:<\/strong>&nbsp;applies if your project requests any funding from Borough Presidents (including those groups that are also requesting funding from the Council or Department of Cultural Affairs)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thursday, March 20, 2025, 5:00pm:<\/strong>&nbsp;applies if your project is only requesting funding from the Council and\/or the Department of Cultural Affairs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">New York City Council Member Christopher Banks of District 42 in<br \/>Brooklyn, NY is currently scheduling meetings to discuss requests for<br \/>discretionary funding for the 2026 fiscal year. To be eligible to meet with<br \/>Council Member Banks or receive discretionary funding you must<br \/>first SUBMIT a FY2026 New York City Council Discretionary Funding<br \/>Application or be considered a government entity such as Public<br \/>Schools, CUNY Schools, NYCHA Tenant Associations, Community<br \/>Boards, etc. Requests for a meeting will not be accepted after February<br \/>20th, 2025. Note: This request does not guarantee a meeting with the<br \/>Council Member.
