If your honoree is not based in Bed-Stuy or North Crown Heights, please request proclamations\/citations from your local Council Member. You can find out their contact\u00a0information <a href=\"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/districts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Citations<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Council presents citations to community individuals or organizations for their contributions to the district or recognition for graduations.<\/p>\n<p>To submit a citation request, please email our office with the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Honoree name and why a citation is requested for them<\/li>\n<li>Date of event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Citation requests <strong>must be submitted more than 5 business days before the event<\/strong>. If a request is submitted within less time, there is no guarantee that it will be finished on time for your event.<\/p>\n<p>For citation requests, please reach out to Michelle Beatty at <a href=\"mailto:mvutrapongvatana@council.nyc.gov\">mbeatty@council.nyc.gov<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Proclamations<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Council presents proclamations to community leaders and organizations for their retirements, their birthdays (if they are over 75), their anniversaries (that end in 5 or 0), or as a part of a Council Chambers event.<\/p>\n<p>To submit a proclamation request, please email our office with the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Honoree name and why a proclamation is requested for them<\/li>\n<li>A brief biography of the honoree. The biography should tell a story about the life of the honoree and be 300 to 400 words. Resumes are not accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Date of event<\/li>\n<li>Information about the event. You can send in a picture of an invitation or a link to an event page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Proclamation requests <strong>must be submitted more than 15 business days before the event<\/strong>. If a request is submitted within less time, you <strong>must <\/strong>submit a proclamation draft and there is no guarantee that it will be finished on time for your event.<\/p>\n<p>For proclamation requests, please reach out to Saha Guerrero at <a href=\"mailto:MBeatty@council.nyc.gov\">SGuerrero@council.nyc.gov<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Street Co-Namings<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Twice a year, the Council passes legislation to co-name an intersection in honor of an individual who has made a significant impact in the district. The individual must be deceased for at least <strong>two<\/strong> <strong>years<\/strong> with some exceptions. In order for our office to consider a street co-naming proposal, you <strong>must<\/strong> reach out to your local community board and ask them for a recommendation. We defer to the recommendation of the local community board before we submit any street co-naming requests.<\/p>\n<p>Our two primary community boards are Brooklyn Community Board 3 and Brooklyn Community Board 8.
