Please read this page thoroughly.&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The City Council has a discretionary funding process, and each individual member can fund services, programs, and infrastructure projects for their district. The two forms of discretionary funding are <strong>expense funding <\/strong>and <strong>capital funding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Expense funding<\/strong> is discretionary funding that supports programs and services.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Capital funding<\/strong> is discretionary funding that supports physical infrastructure projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that these funds <strong>are not grants<\/strong>. You <strong>must<\/strong> be able to spend the money up front, and you will be reimbursed by the City. Before you apply for discretionary funding, we encourage organizations, especially first-time applicants, to attend a workshop with the Non-Profit Help Desk to fully understand the expectations and process of discretionary funding. You can register for a workshop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jccgci.org\/the-nonprofit-helpdesk\/workshops\/#upcomingdiscretionaryfundingworkshops\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Discretionary Funding Applications&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply, you must fill out an application through the City Council.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Expense Funding Application and Deadlines&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The expense funding application for Fiscal Year 2027 can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/budget\/fy2027\/\">here<\/a>. The deadline is Wednesday, February 18th, 2026, at 6:00 PM.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Capital Funding Application and Deadlines&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The capital funding application can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/site\/capitalgrants\/capgrants-portal\/capgrants-portal.page\">here<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadline for projects requesting both Borough President funding and Council funding:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>February 19 \u2013 All applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadline for projects requesting <\/strong><strong><em>only<\/em><\/strong><strong> City Council funding:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>March 19 \u2013 All applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Cultural Organizations Requesting Capital Funding <\/strong><strong><br \/><\/strong>For cultural organizations interested in applying, additional information and application materials are available through the <strong>Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA)<\/strong> online portal:<br \/><strong>DCLA Cultural Funding Website:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/dcla\">https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/dcla<\/a> (please replace with specific link if different)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cultural Capital Funding Eligibility<\/strong><strong><br \/><\/strong>Cultural Capital Funding is available for:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Members of the <strong>Cultural Institutions Group (CIG)<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n<li>Cultural nonprofits <strong>based in New York City<\/strong> that have received <strong>at least one baseline Cultural Development Fund (CDF) recommendation<\/strong> through the DCLA Program Services Unit in fiscal years <strong>2023, 2024, or 2025<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>District 36 Budget Request Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Due to capacity, <strong>we are not taking any discretionary funding meetings<\/strong>. In lieu of a meeting, we are asking organizations to send in the following:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you were funded by our office in Fiscal Year 2026:<\/strong> please send over a one-pager with information on:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How FY26 funding was used in District 36<\/li>\n<li>Your organization\u2019s funding ask for FY27\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>How you plan to partner with our office for FY27<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>If you were not funded by our office in Fiscal Year 2026:<\/strong> please send over a one-pager with information on:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How your organization serves District 36 (please be specific and provide statistics where possible)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Your organization\u2019s funding ask for FY27\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>How you plan to partner with our office for FY27<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Our office will reach out to organizations if we have further questions or need more details.
