“The repercussions of the Trump administration’s dangerous and unrealistic budget will be felt in New York and across the country, especially in our most vulnerable communities. Cutting  public assistance programs across public housing, Medicaid, and SNAP all while providing massive tax cuts for the rich is nothing short of a disgraceful attack on students, the aging, and the disabled who will suffer the consequences. This is a budget that hurts the Americans most in need of help and seeks to undermine much of the progress that we have made as a nation. It is unconscionable that a presidential administration would work to undermine the fundamental rights and values of this country rather than focusing on protecting the people of this country. Here in New York City, the Council will continue to advocate for the underserved and reject the idea of budget cuts to the programs and populations who most need the funding.”
