DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Events and Production Services Unit is seeking a team member to serve as senior editor and assist in the coordination of special events for the Council. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with strong organizational and editing skills, who is also interested in serving a critical role in the production of Council events. You will gain hands on experience in the production of government materials and events while polishing already existing skills. You will become familiar with the Council’s function and interact with a diverse collection of internal and external persons. You will work closely with the unit director. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Editing and review of materials for the Speaker and Council Members such as newsletters, reports and fliers
- Writing and revising of internal and external materials including but not limited to memos, policies and letters
- Participation in the planning and production of events (meeting attendance and note taking, determination and documenting of graphics needs, monitoring of related progress, correspondence and regular follow up with internal and external participants)
- Regular reporting on personal work flow and status of all projects as well as monitoring of and reporting on unit-wide projects.
Candidates should be organized and thrive in deadline-driven environments. Be organized, with ability to create and maintain personal organization/tracking tools as needed to manage time wisely and balance numerous projects at a time with care and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel and creativity in Adobe Suite a plus, especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; able to supply portfolio of past work/demonstrate skills. Fast learner with interest in learning new skills while polishing existing ones and broad, sophisticated communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will also be a self-starter, team player, and have the ability to work well on tight deadline. Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of two years related experience required. Multilingual skills are a plus.
New York City residency required within 90 days of appointment.
