 Support Everyday New Yorkers

Speaker Quinn proposed new legislation that will offer common sense relief for New Yorkers receiving unfair parking tickets. For drivers who receive a ticket while in the process in paying for a muni meter spot, ticket agents will now be able – and required – to cancel the parking ticket on the spot, saving New Yorkers from hours of senseless arguing in court and valuable dollars spent on unnecessary tickets.

This package of legislation that will also improve parking conditions for New Yorkers across the five boroughs. For example, many blocks have more than one day of alternate side parking restrictions. Cars have to clear the way for street sweepers, even if the street isn’t dirty. The new legislation will change so that areas, with the highest cleanliness rating for two years in a row, will have the option of one less day of alternate side.

This new package of legislation will also help New Yorkers know where to appropriately park by creating an interactive online map to show what blocks are closed for filming, construction, or street fairs – and where alternate side rules have been temporarily changed.
