On Tuesday, February 15th, 2011, Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn spoke about the importance of working with New Yorkers to address the problems and concerns facing them, both large and small. The Speaker tackled a range of issues including job creation, increased support for tenants and small business owners and excessive ticketing. The initiatives are:

ASSISTsmall business owners The City will now be just a phone call away every time a small business owner has to ask a question, whether it's on permits or inspections. Read about the new program.
STRENGTHENlong-term financial stability We’re making a commitment that as the City's finances improve, we’ll steadily increase the amount we pay out of our capital budget. Read how this will save billions a year, instead of leaving our children in debt.
GROW an innovative economy In order to keep New York City's economy growing, we must create a support system that will cultivate great and new ideas.Read how we're doing it.
