The Civil Rights Committee is responsible for considering and proposing to the full Council legislation and resolutions for adoption, preparing committee reports and conducting legislative oversight on matters regarding the New York City Commission on Human Rights, Equal Employment Practices Commission, and the Department of Citywide Administrative Services' office of Citywide Equal Employment Opportunity. Formerly a Select committee, it was re-formed as a full committee in 2006.
