We’re committed to using data and working with civic technologists to advance policies, services and the way the Council interacts with constituents.
CouncilStat data will be updated daily and available on the NYC Open Data portal.
The Council introduced the Council 2.0 plan with a commitment to digital inclusion and open government.
With the release of this data, we aim to increase transparency, improve understanding of issues that New Yorkers face, and create more familiarity around the role of Council district offices in their local community.
The Council is excited to partner with civic technologists to strengthen constituent service delivery and tracking. In January 2016, we hosted a hackathon at Civic Hall to preview this data and generate ideas for how to improve constituent services. We also received suggestions for how to organize the data to make it more useable and transparent. We are currently working to implement changes to the dataset that were suggested by hackathon participants.
